Teddy and Orrin's friendship was well known. It was clearly Satan's way of keeping a potentially potent adversary off his edge. Orrin was charmed by Teddy and wanted to make nice when he should have been more wary.
I wonder how this may have contributed to his suggestion to Bill Clinton that he nominate Ms. Ginsburg to the Supreme Court?
Orrin has turned out to be largely useless.
Orrin Hatch was useful up until after the Clarance Thomas hearings, and then useless. He really should be voted out of office and replaced. I think lifelong politicians are a danger to our great nation. When they have nothing to fear, time or votes, then they can get away with just about anything.
